EXCERPT:

SHERMAN: “Obviously, when Trump, in his first administration, got out of the joint comprehensive plan of action, the so-called Iran nuclear deal, he ended diplomacy and set us on a path to this confrontation with Iran. There is no one who wants Iran to have a nuclear weapon. I’m not even sure the supreme leader of Iran wants a nuclear weapon, though he wants to leave his options open. We certainly don’t want Iran to have a nuclear weapon. They are a destabilizing force in the Middle East. But Donald Trump has now decided that we are part of this war, and I think we are all waiting to see whether all the assets that we’ve sent to the Middle East are now going to take a strike, going to use our Massive Ordnance Penetrator to deal a blow to Fordo, the deep underground enrichment facility, whether, in fact, this is going to set us on a path where no one has laid out what the endgame is, what the end result is. We should not be about regime change even if Israel is. We certainly should not be about setting off fireworks in the Middle East so that every Muslim nation in the world is against us. And of course, first and foremost, we want to protect Americans.”
