Fox News: Police Arrest Man After Car Hits Liverpool Crowd
EXCERPT:
HOGAN: “What a shocking turn of events. What started as a celebration has now turned into an active investigation. Police say one man is in custody after this car collided into crowds of pedestrians around 6:00 PM in Liverpool, the city famed for being the home of The Beatles. Crowds of people had packed the streets earlier today as Liverpool FC, the soccer team, celebrated winning the Premier League title with a 10-mile parade and bus tour through the city. Law enforcement were already out in force for crowd control during that parade. Liverpool fans called the massive turnout mind-blowing as thousands of people had packed the streets to celebrate this big win. Authorities say it’s when people began to disperse that a car crashed into pedestrians on Water Street. That’s a busy street near The Beatles statue. Bystanders say that they heard screaming as other people tried to stop the car and smash the car’s windows. There’s no word yet on how many people were potentially hit or the number of people who are hurt. We do have footage that shows emergency workers wheeling away people in stretchers, other people who are wrapped in foil being tended to by emergency workers. Local police issued a statement saying that the car stopped at the scene and a 53-year-old white man from Liverpool was detained.”
