Molly Jong-Fast: Post-Roe America Is Not the Safest Place To Be a Pregnant Woman
EXCERPT:
JONG-FAST: “You know, this post-Roe America is actually not a very safe place to be a pregnant woman. That's what we're seeing. We're seeing doctors -- I mean, this Louisiana report out last week showed that in Louisiana doctors tried to treat -- the -- the OBGYN they're trying to treat after 12 weeks because they're worried about getting blamed for miscarriages because before 12 weeks are much more likely to miscarriage. I mean, this is crazy. We are already a country that really struggles with maternal fetal health. And it's only getting worse in this post-Roe America. And look in 1973 the reason that Roe v Wade was decided so broadly by a fairly conservative court was because of doctors afraid to treat, afraid to be jailed, or fined, or lose their licenses, and that's what we're going back to.”
