Chuck Todd: Boehner Lashing Out Because ‘He Feels Burned’ by Gov’t Shutdown

‘He feels he’s given to these groups, and these groups never say thank you’

TODD: “Well, I think other than -- you could tell John Boehner feels pretty burned by the entire shutdown. So he feels pretty burned. Let’s put yourself back into John Boehner’s shoes. These groups almost led the charge to get rid of him as speaker at one point. OK? These groups let him down to take the fall of making the Republican Party as its most unpopular in the modern era as far as unfavorable ratings, thanks to the shutdown. So, I think it is human reaction, it is human nature for John Boehner to be reacting the way he's reacting because he feels as if he has given, given, given, given to these groups, and these groups never say thank you. Instead they always say you've not done enough. You’ve not done enough. You’re still too weak. You’re still not a real -- you know, you still don't show enough spine. So I think there was only so much that somebody could get pushed –- “
