MSNBC Host vs. Williams: ‘Magnified Chain of Telephone He Played with Himself’

‘We learned that plagiarism and embellishment are of the same tenet of punishment as giving up ones sources’

MSNBC Host Janet Mock on Brian Williams: "Magnified Chain of Telephone That He Played With Himself" (RealClearPolitics)

On Friday's broadcast of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Janet Mock, who hosts the weekly online show So Popular! on MSNBC.com, reacted to the growing controversy surrounding NBC Nightly Newsanchor Brian Williams' false recounting of a tale involving a helicopter that was under enemy fire. Mock also likened Williams to Jayson Blair and Stephen Glass.

"I feel like it was a magnified chain of telephone that he played with himself it seemed," Mock said. "As someone who went to journalism school I was in that space studying journalism. Our boogeyman were Jayson Blair and Stephen Glass. We learned that plagiarism and embellishment are of the same tenet of punishment as giving up ones sources."
