RUSH TRANSCRIPT Velshi So ░░░░░░░░ Johnson made an interesting ░░░░░░░░ and it s important ░░░░░░░░ note that redistricting if ░░░░░░░░ properly is probably a ░░░░░░░░ thing Population or population ░░░░░░░░ all sorts of things ░░░░░░░░ But this is this ░░░░░░░░ not redistricting This is ░░░░░░░░ is as blatantly partizan ░░░░░░░░ anti democratic stuff as ░░░░░░░░ can get And nobody ░░░░░░░░ hiding it Literally Donald ░░░░░░░░ rolled up and said ░░░░░░░░ need five more seats ░░░░░░░░ I ve never seen ░░░░░░░░ fold so fast in ░░░░░░░░ life Crockett No it ░░░░░░░░ not just even the ░░░░░░░░ that it s gerrymandering ░░░░░░░░ want to be clear ░░░░░░░░ is racial gerrymandering specifically ░░░░░░░░ the state of Texas ░░░░░░░░ I can t speak ░░░░░░░░ other states but I ░░░░░░░░ absolutely speak on my ░░░░░░░░ that is a majority ░░░░░░░░ state And the fact ░░░░░░░░ when we ultimately did ░░░░░░░░ actual redistricting in 2021 ░░░░░░░░ we got the numbers ░░░░░░░░ said that 95 of ░░░░░░░░ growth was due to ░░░░░░░░ of color And so ░░░░░░░░ Texas that was growing ░░░░░░░░ and bounds was entitled ░░░░░░░░ two additional seats But ░░░░░░░░ they didn t feel ░░░░░░░░ minority voices were entitled ░░░░░░░░ have representation even though ░░░░░░░░ were the reason that ░░░░░░░░ got those seats So ░░░░░░░░ only did they give ░░░░░░░░ two new seats and ░░░░░░░░ reason that I say ░░░░░░░░ not just strictly partizan ░░░░░░░░ because when we got ░░░░░░░░ two new seats they ░░░░░░░░ both anglo majority seats ░░░░░░░░ went to a Democrat ░░░░░░░░ went to a Republican ░░░░░░░░ is racial at this ░░░░░░░░ And now they re ░░░░░░░░ you know what we ░░░░░░░░ two more anglo majority ░░░░░░░░ And so now here ░░░░░░░░ is You re going ░░░░░░░░ get four anglo new ░░░░░░░░ seats And this is ░░░░░░░░ about fairness It s ░░░░░░░░ making sure that we ░░░░░░░░ our constitution Because literally ░░░░░░░░ the 15th amendment it ░░░░░░░░ about making sure that ░░░░░░░░ people have representation And ░░░░░░░░ now African Americans are ░░░░░░░░ going to have one ░░░░░░░░ of the voting power ░░░░░░░░ they should have in ░░░░░░░░ state of Texas under ░░░░░░░░ map And we know ░░░░░░░░ our Latino brothers and ░░░░░░░░ will only have one ░░░░░░░░ of the voting power.
